Ryan Smyth is finally back in the Edmonton Oilers.
Forward 35 years was traded from Los Angeles to Oilers Sunday in exchange for forward Colin Fraser and a seventh-round pick in the 2012 auction of the NHL.
Smyth scored 23 goals and 24 assists for in 82 games last season with the Kings. He began his NHL career with the Oilers in 1994-95 and spent a decade with them before being traded to the New York Islanders in a remarkable transaction occurred at the trade deadline in February 2007.
The rumor of his return to Edmonton had been circulating for several days already, but the transaction stumbled due to many obstacles that were ultimately shot down by both parties.
Fraser scored three goals and added two assists to his record, in addition to bail of 60 penalty minutes in 67 games with the Oilers last season.
